I can't believe that first quarter is almost over! Parent/Teacher conferences are next week, and I have so much to do. This class is not only one of the smartest classes I've had, it is also the most talkative! We have been working on being polite and respectful, getting the teacher's attention appropriately, talking at appropriate times, and refraining from interrupting others. It is my sincere hope that next quarter will find us more mature and able to follow school and class expectations on a more consistent basis. They are good kids and excellent students, we just have a talking issue! Of course, this does not apply to some students, just most of them! :)
Here it is, Saturday morning at 5:10 and I can't sleep! I am so excited about the start of school, lying in bed thinking of all of the things I still need to do! So, I just had to get up and update our class web site! Hopefully now it will be all ready for you to view after Back to School night (Monday, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.). Can't wait to meet you all!
Three days down, three days to go! I have learned so much, and I am so excited to make things for my class! More importantly, I can't wait to see what they create! Learning just got a lot more interesting... Well, I guess I better go do my homework (that's right, 5th grade friends, not only do teachers go to school in the summer, we also have homework!).
I'm very excited to start Apple Foundations Training next week! We will receive an IPad to use in our classroom plus training on how to use it effectively. I have a lot to do to prepare, so I better get started. Keep you posted!
We really did it! The 2013-2014 school year has come to an end, and we made it! It was a difficult and challenging year, but then again, I wanted a challenge! And boy, did I get it! I had some very wonderful students who helped me so much, and I truly appreciate them. Thank you, friends, I couldn't have done it without you! I hope you all have a wonderful, exciting summer, and I look forward to seeing you in August as 6th graders! Now, one last time... You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here! ;)
Our new desks and chairs have finally arrived! It has been so nice to be able to put nametags down (a month into school!). It has been a little chaotic with all of the changes...tables to some desks and some tables... and nowhere to put their books and supplies. The desks and chairs are beautiful, and so big! They take up quite a bit of room in our class, but I am thankful to have them. Hopefully, things will settle down now... they will settle down...right?
I spent today creating this web site for my students and their parents at Techie Tuesday. Our district allows us to sign up for technology classes that will enhance our lessons and our classrooms. Although it was difficult to be away from my class, it was a very productive day. In the long run, I hope it will be a beneficial communication tool for us all. |
